Starting a sculpture or a painting is always a walk into the unknown for me. I don’t have preset ideas. It’s from an inner stillness that I simply open to what is there to emerge, what wants to take form and to come out to be seen. I listen and glances, rushes of insight, come from deep within and communicate with the stone, the colours, the canvass and with my hands’ joy to create. My artwork reflects mystery and magic, manifesting the fine sensual threads of real life woven into existence.

‘Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known’  Carl Sagan once said, and I would like to add: somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known and seen and take form.

It was only after I came to live in Canada that I started to sculpt and later began painting again after a long and refreshing hiatus. 20 years flew by until I knew that now there was an evolved sense of true to real me life, capable of a coherent artistic expression.
The wide-open prairies and grasslands of Alberta – their endless skies and horizons moving in a way that seem to defy the laws of space and time – invited me in to walk into lands and love unknown. Seen and unseen spaces of openness and wonder awakened this love in me to create, give form and express in a way that touches the ancient recognition ‘ahhh, here I am’.

Michelangelo once said: I saw the angel in the marble and carved it until I set her free. As I carve, I am setting me free as well and for just this moment as we meet through my work you too may feel set free and be moved by what it touches in you.
